Updates!

Hey Everyone,

It has been a few days sense my last update and I'll right let you know why. I have been trying frantically to find a steady job although the economy is on the rise unemployment does seem to have changed any only gotten worse. I have been working on a comic that I ' am sure most have you have seen here on my blog and as of late I have put it on stand-by not only because I don't have the time to focus on it, I also don't quite like the way it is turning out.

So in the future I will complete the comic and I will be releasing it for free instead of on +Kindle  due to the amount of time it is going to take me to complete. As of right now I' am spending a lot of time in +Adobe Illustrator  drawing and coming up with new things daily.

(Here is a little cartoon I have been designing and working on for a little while now.)

(Here are some sketchbook entries.)

Let me know what you think of the toon and I will be posting more art here very soon.

Until next time, Cheers,

Joshua

Progress Update! Captain America Zombie

Well it has been a very long night. Got to play some pool and get some more work done on The Captain. Here is the current state of the illustration.

I should have it completed by tomorrow but that is if the entire day goes my way. I' am finding that I could be doing this a lot faster if I had a tablet with a stylist. I was looking at +Windows 8 Tablets but with a price tag of around $900.00 USD I just don't have those kinda funds right now. So I'm stuck taking days to complete illustrations that I could complete in hours or less. Maybe I'll start a +Indiegogo  or  a +Kickstarter Campaign let me know what you think.

Current work in progree: The all american zombie.

This peice will be avaiable on hoodies, t-shirts, iPhone cases, iPad cases, Cards, etc....

Here is the current state of the illustration.

Once the illustration is completed the sketch lines will no longer appear in the image.

Let me know what you think. Gotta go pick up a pool table in the meantime.

.Hastings Community Project

With my new store up and running it got me to thinking. Right now I only have two of my illustrations uploaded to the store. Seeing as I'am not a great thinker and cannot come up with thousands of ideas completely on my own all of the time.

Now don't get me wrong I do have my own ideas and here is one for the community. I have started a .Hastings Community Project page in Google+ . what does this mean for you, well keep your pants on and I will gladly let you know.

What I would like to do is build a community of artist who can submit their sketches to me. I will then take the sketch and turn it into a illustration and apply to a product in my store. If that item should ever sell, the individual who provided the idea/sketch will then be paid 50% of the profit. Now there will be some guidelines and terms to adhere to so please visit the .Hastings Community Project page for all of the details.

I hope to see you all on there soon.

Cheers,

Joshua

.Hastings Illustration Company.

Well I have decided to go ahead and start my own illustration company. Oh yes. I will be finishing the pages for my work portfolio and a new contact page to allow for better contacting for commissioned work. For right now here is a sample of my work as of late.

(The base sketch)

Once I have my base sketch I scan it in to be used in +Adobe Illustrator to complete the line art and coloring.

(Here is the image after it has been lined out)

(Here it is after it has been colored)

I choose not to do the hair because where I intended to use the image had a black background and it would have just blended in and looked off. So after I have completed the image in +Adobe Illustrator  I can then transfer it to +Adobe Photoshop this will allow me to produce the images on lets say:

(A t-shirt)

Or a

(Book-bag)

Once the contact page is complete I will be accepting request for art work. I will be able to mock you image on any type of product you can think of from clothes to electronics. If you would like to use my Frank image for use of your own please feel free.

(This is the line art .png file I assure you if you save it the background is transparent not black)

I will update again once I have all of my pages complete.

Cheers,

Joshua

Page 1. The rest should be available on Kindle in the next few days.

Well after 3 or 4 attempts to color my comic I have decided to take a suggestion from my girlfriend and well with in ten minuets I had completed one page with very little hassle.

Here is the first page of the comic, Let me know what you think of the art work. The entire comic will be uploaded to +Kindle  and you will be able to purchase it there for you reading pleasure.

(Page one: Issue one: Day one)

I was previously asked by a reader as to what the comic is about and to be honest at the time the answer I could give was it's about funny things happening. Well Ill give you some insight as to the back story for issue one. Stanlee and Matt have just moved into their new apartment and in the course of them getting settled in they manage to meet there neighbor from across the hall.

As always let me know what you think. Soundtrack that was pounding in my ears while I colored my comic can be listened to here.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FKFPQzireLo It's +Knife Party

(My Photoshop rendering.)

Please let me know what you think, and once the zombie version is complete I'm sure ill post it on here.

Zombie Pikachu- Rendering

After the past two days helping family move, all I wanted to do was get back to draw and get this ball finished rolling. So tonight I wanted to do a digital coloring of a scanned in image to brush up on the techniques that I have learned but haven't used in a while.

After about 20 minuets searching +Google Images  I came across a image of +Pikachu  as a zombie. Instantly it was a winner. Now I wanted a line art photo because I had planned to paint it digitally in +Photoshop. Here is the line art as provided by www.dragoart.com.

I didn't take me long to get back into the swing of the workflow and soon I had a completed photo that I' am sure some of my friends would enjoy.

Below is a large image of the finale rendering.

(: Please let me know what you think. :)

Expressing emotion with the eyes study.

So tonight I made a simple comic with stick figures. The main focus here is the eyes, I wanted to make sure I could convey emotion strictly through the eyes.

(Simple Stick Figure Comic)
I choose to leave the bubbles blank for a reason.

If you would like to use this comic to tell a story please by all means do so. All I ask is that you post your dialog versions here on my blog as well.
Have fun,

Joshua

First cover concept.

Hey so I haven't really figured out what I want to do about the cover yet so here is one that I ran through +Photoshop.

This may or may not be the finale title I' m not sure yet, if you have a suggestion feel free to let me know. The rest of the comic is being scanned and finalized right now. SO you get to read it very soon.

Cheers,

Joshua
